Former VCU signee Tevin Mack has decided on his new destination, announcing his commitment to Texas.
Mack, a 6-foot-7 small forward from Dreher High School (S.C.) who is ranked No. 48 in the ESPN 100, reopened his recruitment when coach Shaka Smart left VCU for Texas. After several weeks of seeing new schools come into the mix, though, Mack decided to attach himself (again) to Smart.
"It's the same guys I signed with in the fall," Mack told ESPN.com recently. "Their pitch is that I can come there and play right away." Georgia was the other finalist for Mack, while Kansas, Clemson and others were all involved in his recruiting in the past 18 months.
With Caleb Swanigan (No. 9) pledging to Purdue earlier in the day, Mack was the highest-ranked player left on the board. Only one ESPN 100 prospect has yet to make a commitment: former Florida signee Noah Dickerson (No. 51).
Mack is the third top-50 prospect to commit to Texas in 2015, joining Eric Davis (No. 45) and Kerwin Roach Jr. (No. 47). Both players decided to remain in the fold when Smart replaced Rick Barnes as head coach.
