Serena Williams vs. Angelique Kerber Wimbledon final: All you need to know

LONDON -- Serena Williams may not have her hoped-for final against sister Venus, but she has a chance to avenge her Australian Open final defeat by Germany's Angelique Kerber and equal Steffi Graf's Open-era record of 22 major titles.

Is the American in fine form or has the German looked better on her way to Saturday's Wimbledon women's final (9 a.m. ET on ESPN/WatchESPN)? Here's everything you need to know about the two finalists:

Their biggest strengths

Williams

The cornerstone of Serena's success throughout her career has been the quality and power of her first serve.

As the below graphic shows, throughout Wimbledon she has shown great variation with that weapon too, particularly out wide on the advantage court, where she has lost only one point.

Kerber

The German hasn't got the serving power of her final opponent but she is hard to get past. She has made an impressive 85 percent of her returns on the way to Saturday's showpiece, helping her break serve 28 times.

This graphic shows how well she covers the court, with no obvious area of weakness when returning.

Their views on the final

Serena

"I made a lot of errors [in the Australian Open final against Kerber]. She came out swinging, ready to win. She was fearless. That's something I learned. When I go into a final, I, too, need to be fearless like she was."

Kerber

"I will go out there with a lot of confidence. She [Serena] lost the [Australian Open] final against me and I know she will go out and try everything to beat me. I will just try to going out there like in Australia, trying to show her, OK, I'm here to win the match as well. I have to play my best tennis to beat her in the final."
