Women's Wooden Award down to 15 finalists

The 15 finalists for the women's basketball Wooden Award were revealed Saturday, led by three players from unbeaten UConn: Napheesa Collier, Katie Lou Samuelson and Gabby Williams.

Samuelson was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year on Saturday.

The nation's other undefeated team, Mississippi State, also had more than one player on the list with standouts Victoria Vivians and Teaira McCowan.

The youngest player to make the list of finalists was Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu, the lone sophomore on the list. She was named Pac-12 Player of the Year earlier in the week.

The other finalists for the Wooden Award: Baylor's Kalani Brown, Duke's Lexie Brown, UCLA's Jordin Canada, Missouri's Sophie Cunningham, Louisville's Asia Durr, Iowa's Megan Gustafson, Ohio State's Kelsey Mitchell, Notre Dame's Arike Ogunbowale and South Carolina's A'ja Wilson.

Earlier in the week, Baylor's Brown was named Big 12 Player of the Year. Durr got the honor in the ACC, and Wilson won it in the SEC for the third year in a row.

Mitchell (coaches' pick) and Gustafson (media pick) split Player of the Year honors in the Big Ten.

The John R. Wooden Award is given annually to the most outstanding men's and women's college basketball players. Washington's Kelsey Plum was the women's recipient last season.
