No. 3 prospect Saniya Rivers commits to South Carolina Gamecocks

Saniya Rivers, the No. 3 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Class of 2021, committed to South Carolina on Saturday in a video posted on Twitter.

Dawn Staley's Gamecocks had the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in 2019, only to fall out of the top 20 for the Class of 2020. Rivers' commitment puts them back on track with a major junior prospect.

Rivers, a 6-foot guard, is a two-time Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year out of Eugene Ashley High School in Wilmington. She averaged 25 points, 11.7 rebounds and 6.3 steals per game as a junior.

She is the second top-30 prospect in the Class of 2021 to commit to the Gamecocks, joining 26th-ranked Aubryanna Hall, a 5-foot-11 guard from Wayne High School in Ohio.

South Carolina only has one top-100 prospect in the Class of 2020 -- point guard Eniya Russell, who is ranked No. 43 overall.

Rivers became the 2021 class' fourth top-five prospect in to announce her commitment. No. 2 Olivia Miles is headed to Notre Dame, while No. 4 Brooke Demetre chose Stanford and No. 5 Amari DeBerry committed to UConn.

Azzi Fudd, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2021, is still uncommitted.
