Stanford Cardinal women's basketball team won't play UC Davis

Top-ranked Stanford has had another schedule change, as the Cardinal's game vs. UC Davis at Maples Pavilion on Friday has been canceled.

Stanford (3-0), which went to the top of The Associated Press poll Monday, relocated last week to Las Vegas because of the Santa Clara County ban on athletic activities that involve physical contact or that take place indoors. The ban will be in effect through at least 5 a.m. on Dec. 21.

Meanwhile, UC Davis has paused its program to comply with Yolo County's health orders related to COVID-19.

Cardinal coach Tara VanDerveer stands at 1,097 victories, one shy of tying the late Pat Summitt of Tennessee for most in Division I women's basketball history.
