Oregon State's Timea Gardiner enters transfer portal

Oregon State Beavers forward Timea Gardiner has entered the transfer portal, she announced on social media Tuesday.

Gardiner, the Pac-12 Sixth Woman of the Year and one of Oregon State's three 2024 all-conference selections, is the second major Beavers contributor to enter the portal following their run to the Elite Eight last month, where they lost a tight game to eventual national champion South Carolina.

"After careful consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal," Gardiner said in her post. "I will be forever grateful for my time at OSU as it will always hold a special place in my heart."

Oregon State and Washington State have been left in limbo with the disintegration of the Pac-12, in which the 10 other schools bolted for different Power 5 conferences. OSU and WSU will join the WCC as affiliate members for women's basketball and 11 other sports for the next two seasons.

Gardiner, a 6-foot-3 forward from Utah, helped propel the Beavers into becoming one of the best teams in the Pac-12 this season and to a No. 8 ranking in the final Associated Press poll. She averaged 11.6 points and 7.0 rebounds while hitting 39.5% on 3-pointers as a sophomore this season; as a freshman, she was limited to 15 contests after blood clots were discovered in her lungs.

Gardiner was the highest-ranked recruit in program history (No. 6 in the Class of 2022). Classmate Raegan Beers was another top-10 recruit in that group who chose to go to Corvallis.
