UConn Huskies' Paige Bueckers lone freshman on Wooden Award top 20 list for women's college basketball

UConn's Paige Bueckers is the only freshman on the Wooden Award late-season top 20 list for women's college basketball, which was released Monday.

Six players were removed from the midseason top 25 released in early January, while Oklahoma State senior Natasha Mack, the nation's leading shot-blocker (4.2), was included for the first time this season.

Bueckers, who leads the Huskies in scoring (18.5), assists (5.7) and steals (2.5), is one of five underclassmen on the list. South Carolina sophomore duo Aliyah Boston and Zia Cooke also made the cut.

Two other programs have two players on the list: UConn (Bueckers and Olivia Nelson-Ododa) and Stanford (Haley Jones, also a sophomore, and Kiana Williams).

Dana Evans, one of eight seniors on the list, has led Louisville to the No. 1 ranking for the first time in program history. The Cardinals face one of their toughest tests Monday (ESPN2/ESPN App, 7 p.m., ET) against No. 2 NC State, which suffered its first loss Thursday. Junior Elissa Cunane, who also is on the Wooden list, leads the Wolfpack.

The SEC leads all conferences with six on the late-season list, including Kentucky junior Rhyne Howard, ESPN's unanimous pick as the preseason player of the year. The Pac-12 and Big 12 each have four players on the list.
