No. 20. Lamar Miller, RB, Miami
2010 numbers: He played in 11 games and started against Maryland as a redshirt sophomore. He led the team with six rushing touchdowns and finished second with 646 yards on 108 carries. His six yards per carry average was the highest among rushers with at least 10 carries. He averaged 58.7 yards per game.
Previous ranking: Not ranked
Making the case for Miller: Miami hasn’t seen a 1,000-yard rusher since Willis McGahee in 2002, but the Canes have the two ingredients for that to change this year: Miller and a veteran offensive line. The Canes also have a talented back in Mike James, but the position got a bit thinner with Storm Johnson’s decision to transfer, so Miller should steal the show. He was at his best against some of the toughest competition last year, including Virginia Tech. He ran for 163 yards against the Hokies and his rushing average increased against ACC opponents to 86.8 yards per game -- third-best in the ACC.
