Clemson's creative play calling leads to TD (0:44)

Early in the second quarter, the Tigers convert a fake punt on fourth down, then run some trickeration on a run play, which leads to 5-yard touchdown from Deshaun Watson. (0:44)

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- In Clemson’s last game, Dabo Swinney was furious at his punter, Andy Teasdall, for executing an ill-advised fake. In the Capital One Orange Bowl, Swinney was all too happy to give him another shot.

Teasdall executed a fake early in the second quarter, tossing a long pass to defensive lineman Christian Wilkins for a 31-yard gain on fourth-and-4. Two plays later, Deshaun Watson danced into the end zone to give the Tigers a 10-7 lead.

It was a fantastic bit of trolling from Swinney, who publicly excoriated Teasdall on the sideline after the redshirt junior, grabbing his jersey and yelling and continuing a the tirade long after a failed fake that Swinney said Teasdall had called on his own.

“He says he loves everybody; he just doesn’t like you at some points,” Teasdall said earlier this week.

Teasdall said this week he was simply trying to avoid the spotlight now. It's no wonder Oklahoma wasn't expecting the play.

It was the second completion of Teasdall’s career, though the first one to gain yardage. Wilkins’ catch was also the first by a defensive lineman in Clemson history.
