The 2010 Big Ten awards and all-conference teams are here. Check 'em out.
AWARDS
Offensive Player of the Year: Michigan QB Denard Robinson (media and coaches)
Defensive Player of the Year: Purdue DE Ryan Kerrigan (media and coaches)
Freshman of the Year: Wisconsin RB James White (media and coaches)
Coach of the Year: Michigan State's Mark Dantonio (media vote only)
Offensive Lineman of the Year: Wisconsin LT Gabe Carimi (coaches vote only)
Defensive lineman of the Year: Purdue DE Ryan Kerrigan (coaches vote only)
My take: After some head-scratching choices for both preseason and postseason awards in recent years, the Big Ten coaches and media got this right across the board. Of course, they could have just read my endorsements posted earlier today. Most of you know my feelings on Kerrigan, and I'm really pleased to see him get rewarded for an outstanding season after being snubbed for several national awards. White, Dantonio and Carimi were pretty obvious choices to me, and Robinson got the nod for his incredible production as both a rusher and as a passer. Robinson was so unique that the coaches voted him Offensive Player of the Year but didn't list him as their first- or second-team quarterback. Overall, I have no major complaints.
Now, onto the all-conference teams.

My take: Overall, both the coaches and the media did a nice job.
A few quick points.
There definitely was a split at the running back spot aside from Illinois' Mikel Leshoure as an obvious first-team selection. The coaches had Ohio State's Dan Herron as a first-team pick while the media only listed Herron as honorable mention, while the media had Michigan State's Edwin Baker on the second team and the coaches listed "Rock" only as honorable mention. The right answer is a mix of the two: Leshoure and Herron on the first team, Baker and John Clay or James White on the second team.
I don't have a major issue with the defensive line selections, although Illinois' Corey Liuget will be on my first team. Michigan's Mike Martin also might be there as well. The media really whiffed by not listing Martin on either team.
There are four or five really good linebackers in this league and only three can make the first team. I think Martez Wilson did more than enough to make it it, but the coaches disagreed.
The defensive backs selections were interesting. Wisconsin's Antonio Fenelus made the media's first team but didn't make either of the coaches' teams, while Ohio State's Jermale Hines was a first-team pick by the coaches but made the media's second team.
The media took more risks with their selections, and I was happy to see Purdue's Ricardo Allen on the second team. Allen is the league's most exciting young defensive player after recording two pick-sixes this season.
All four of Michigan State's starting defensive backs made the second team for either the coaches or the media. That's a real tribute to the unit after Michigan State finished 112th nationally in pass defense in 2009.
Preseason Offensive Player of the Year Terrelle Pryor didn't make the first or second teams for either the coaches or the media. Pryor still had a good season, but it'll be interesting to see if he'll be the preseason Player of the Year for the third consecutive year in 2011, provided he returns to Columbus.
Several positions are stacked in the Big Ten this year. Among them: quarterback, guard, defensive end, wide receiver and punter.
Finally, here's a look at the honorable mentions.
