Bo Pelini having fun so far in 2014

The end of the SEC's national titles streak wasn't the best thing that happened in Big Ten country on Monday night.

During the second quarter of the VIZIO BCS National Championship Game, Nebraska coach Bo Pelini took to Twitter and ... tweeted at his alter ego, FauxPelini, the greatest coaching parody account on Twitter.

For those who don't understand the cat thing -- and really, if you're not following FauxPelini, slap yo' self -- FauxPelini's Twitter avatar is a picture of Bo Pelini, in a sweater, holding a cat wearing a little hat. The irony is fabulous.

Bo has been aware of Faux, but the fact he'd acknowledge the parody on Twitter is simply wonderful. It's nice to see this side of his personality, as many only see images like this. Check out some of the responses to his tweet, which has been retweeted nearly 10,000 times as of this posting.

  • "All. Time."

  • "Bo just upstaged BCS title game"

  • "World imploding in 3, 2, 1 ..."

  • "Bo just won Twitter tonight. Awesome!"

Faux's initial reaction: "Did I die." He then proceeded to imply that Pelini's brother, Carl, had taken the cat, before replying to Bo.

Perhaps Bo just wanted to reclaim the lead in Twitter followers from Faux. He had been trailing Faux, but the two are now neck and neck.

Bottom line: Bo is already having much more fun in 2014 than he did in 2013, when Nebraska's up-and-down season and the steady speculation about his job weighed on him. The Huskers began the new year with an upset win against Georgia in the TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl.

Pelini's official 2014 record is 1-0. After Monday night, he's 2-0.
