Race of three for DT Justin Manning?

ESPN 150 defensive tackle Justin Manning (Dallas/Kimball) said via Twitter and confirmed via text message that he did not make the trip over the weekend to LSU to watch the LSU-Alabama game.

It also appears that Manning’s process now comes down to three schools -- and LSU isn’t one of them.

Manning, No. 89 in the ESPN 150, said via text that the interest with LSU has taken a different path, but he is now focusing on Oklahoma, Texas A&M and TCU. He would not comment on whether he separated himself from LSU or LSU pulled his offer.

Manning, a 6-foot-2, 275-pound lineman, has been considered an Oklahoma lean for months, as his brother, DeMarcus Granger, played defensive tackle for the Sooners from 2006 to 2009. It’s uncertain whether Manning’s parting with LSU had anything to do with the commitment of three-star defensive tackle Christian LaCouture, who decommitted from Nebraska last Sunday and committed to the Tigers over the weekend.

Texas A&M and TCU are still major contenders in Manning's process, and he has made visits to both schools. He has said repeatedly that he is growing weary of the process, which means an offer could come at any time. He originally was scheduled to announce his decision Oct. 19, but he delayed his plans in order to reassess his options.

Manning is ranked No. 8 among defensive tackles nationally and ranked No. 11 among all players in Texas in the Class of 2013.
