Defensive tackle Rod Crayton (Dadeville, Ala./Dadeville) said he's trimmed his list to four schools and hopes to make a decision sometime after taking all of his official visits.

The three-star prospect said his top schools currently include Arkansas, LSU, Penn State and Tennessee.

"I just want to feel comfortable enough to spend four years there," Crayton said Sunday afternoon, in the midst of a six-hour drive from LSU.

Crayton has taken two official visits so far in Washington State and Penn State. His trip to LSU was an unofficial visit, but he said he'll still likely spend those last three officials on LSU and the other teams left in his top four.

And how is Crayton going to decide what school to commit to? He paused for a moment and then said with a laugh, "I have no idea."

His official visit to the Nittany Lions came last week, and he said the atmosphere there was similar to the LSU-Alabama game. Although he obviously wasn't enamored with Penn State's sanctions, he said the school had more than enough to make up for three more seasons without bowl games.

"Penn State, they got a heck of a defensive line coach," Crayton said. "I like Coach [Larry] Johnson a lot. He kind of reminds me of my current D-line coach. And that's important to me.

"You can tell that Coach Johnson really cares about his players. He can get you to the league, too."

Crayton's since lost count of how many scholarships he holds, but his coach told him during the car ride home the count stands at 27. He doesn't yet hold offers from Alabama or Auburn, but he said he wanted to enroll in a school outside of his home state -- "to be on my own" -- and said those two schools were aware of the decision.

He has not yet scheduled any future official visits.
