Missouri Week 9 POWERADE baseball rankings: Upsets abound

After games on Saturday, May 19

A new Class 4 champion will be crowned this season following a wild, upset-filled district round. Seven of the No. 1 seeds saw their seasons end early, including reigning state champ Francis Howell, previous No. 1 Francis Howell Central and No. 2 Vianney.

As a result (and as expected come this time of year), the rankings were shook up this week, with only Liberty, ranked No. 34 in the POWERADE FAB 50, standing pat at its top spot.

Here are this week's rankings (last week's rankings in parentheses):

1. Liberty 25-3 (1)

Bluejays held off Oak Park and Staley to win their district crown and move on to the Class 4 state playoffs.

2. Lee's Summit West 24-5 (3)

Titans blew through district tournament, beating three opponents by a combined count of 33-2.

3. Westminster Christian 25-3 (4)

Wildcats enter the Class 3 state playoffs on a 22-game win streak. Tate Matheny is batting .614 with 10 home runs and 47 RBIs.
