Our countdown of the Pac-10's top 25 players continues.
No. 2o. Lawrence Guy, DT, Arizona State
2009 numbers: Guy recorded 37 tackles, seven tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks in 2009. He also had three QB hurries, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
Most recent ranking: Guy wasn't ranked in our final Pac-10 top-30 list last year.
Making the case for Guy: While his numbers aren't spectacular, Guy, at 6-foot-5, 300 pounds, was the big man in the middle of the Pac-10's No. 1 defense in 2009 (No. 2 in scoring defense), and that counts for a lot. He led the Sun Devils in sacks and QB hurries. The junior is due to make the next step next fall, which means being productive in every game. Last year, he recorded all of his sacks in two games -- California and Washington State -- and abused an overmatched Cougars interior for 3.5 tackles for a loss.
