A lot of good players, as happens every year, won’t make the preseason list. It is in their hands to make the postseason list.

13. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington

2012 numbers: Caught 69 balls for 850 yards and seven touchdowns.

2012 postseason ranking: Unranked.

Making the case for Seferian-Jenkins: At 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds, the man known as ASJ is a mismatch nightmare for secondaries and defensive coordinators. A finalist for the Mackey Award last season and a second-team all-league performer, Seferian-Jenkins ended the 2012 regular season as the national leader among tight ends with 5.25 receptions per game. He already holds a number of Washington TE receiving records, and should add to his legacy with another strong season. His offseason transgression is well-documented, and whatever additional punishment awaits him remains to be seen. His recent injury might make the question of whether he misses the season opener against Boise State moot. Obviously, the Huskies are a much better team when he’s playing. But regardless how much time he misses, if any, consider him a strong candidate for postseason All-America honors and the nation’s premier tight end until proven otherwise.
