The next player on our list of the SEC's best 25 players during the 2013 season had a knack for finding passes that weren't from his own quarterback all year:
No. 20: Cody Prewitt, S, Ole Miss, Jr.
2013 summary: Prewitt was named a first-team All-American by the Associated Press and a first-team All-SEC member by both the AP and the league's coaches. The junior led the SEC with six interceptions and ranked fifth in the league with 13 defended passes. Prewitt was also second for the Rebels with 71 tackles, including 50 solo stops. He also registered 4.5 tackles for loss and forced two fumbles.

Making the case for Prewitt: He was one of the more unheralded players in the league before the 2013 season even started, but Prewitt helped erase that title by really making a name for himself last fall. The rangy defensive back covered so much ground when he was on the field, making plays deep and from sideline to sideline. He not only showed off his ball-hawking skills each week but he wasn't afraid to get physical in the box and make plays near the line of scrimmage. What Prewitt really excelled at was helping to take the deep pass away. He gave the Rebels a very reliable safety net in the back end that forced teams to go underneath more against Ole Miss. While Prewitt led the SEC in interceptions, he probably should have had a few more, and he isn't afraid to tell you that, either. He dropped a few passes that came his way, but it just helped to show how disruptive he was against opposing passing games.
