Xavier Carter

Xavier Carter, 6-3, 195, 4.3, Melbourne Palm Bay

My pick as the nation's #1 WR prospect, In person and on film Xavier is very impressive.

On Film-You can see that #23 is an elite athlete with a rare combination of size and blazing speed. He is the fastest football player in the nation and shows it on just about every play. On film he's a physical ball player who will go up for a ball in a crowd. He has the ability to make a great catch and then separate from a defender in an instant. A difference maker type of offensive weapon that every major school is looking for. He can spread a defense and is a threat to go all the way on every play. A sensational athlete with exceptional body control and leaping ability. On one play I saw Xavier go over the middle, catch the ball with one hand, run through a tackle and then burst past the rest of the defense. Has the kind of skills that Randy Moss, Charlie Rogers, Reggie Williams and Roy Williams have and it is my belief that Xavier should be ready to become an impact player as a true freshman.

Stats-Last season he caught 28 passes for 840 yds and 12 TDs playing on a run oriented team. Benches 264. This season he will also play some FS on defense.

Grades-His GPA is 3.3 and he scored a 780 on the SAT.

Other Sports-He averages 17 points and 9 rebounds a game as a shooting guard in basketball and in track he's been electronically timed in the 100 at 10.38 and the 200 at a 20.6. He also went west to challenge the nation's #2 wide receiver in a foot race, Derrick Jones of Long Beach Poly, and beat him handily.

Favorite Schools-A franchise type player who would like to combine his football career with his track career. That means FL and LSU should be ranked right at the top but don't rule out UCLA, SC, TN, MIAMI and NOTRE DAME, where his uncle, Alonzo Jefferson, a former PFR A.A., played ball.
