Nigel Knott, the fifth-ranked cornerback prospect and 36th-ranked player overall in the ESPN 300, committed to Alabama on Monday afternoon.
Knott, a 5-foot-11, 174-pound four-star defensive back, announced his decision via a Bleacher Report video, which he tweeted out.

The Germantown High School product out of Madison, Mississippi, chose the Crimson Tide over Ole Miss, Oregon, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
In three years of playing varsity football at Germantown, the playmaking athlete amassed 191 tackles and eight interceptions.
For Alabama, Knott could be the start of a strong finish between now and the time national signing day concludes Wednesday. The Crimson Tide have the 10th-ranked recruiting class in the Recruiting Nation rankings, but with the addition of Knott and possibility of landing top prospects such as in-state linebackers Mack Wilson and Ben Davis, Alabama has a chance to jump considerably in the rankings.
Other ESPN 300 targets for Alabama include linebacker Mique Juarez, offensive tackle Landon Dickerson, athlete Mecole Hardman, defensive ends Jeffery Simmons and Terrell Hall, and wide receiver A.J. Brown.
Alabama now has 18 verbal commitments, including 10 ranked in the ESPN 300. As a conference, the SEC has six teams ranked in the top 10 of the recruiting rankings.
