Countdown to college football: 21 days

Mark J. Rebilas/USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma didn't win them all last season. But when the Sooners did win, they put a hurting on the competition most of the time. OU's average scoring margin of 21.5 points per game in 2015 led all FBS teams. It's a return to form for a program that had seen a dip in its average scoring margin in the past few years.

Losses to Clemson and Texas, as well as close wins against Tennessee and TCU, were offset by the times Oklahoma took teams like West Virginia, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech out behind the woodshed.

As the Sooners aim to return to the College Football Playoff, an average scoring margin resembling that of 2015 will impress the selection committee if OU is on the playoff bubble.
