The second quarter delivered back-and-forth game many expected for the College Football Playoff national title game.
After Clemson extended its lead to 10 points, Joe Burrow and LSU drove down field to cut their deficit to 17-14 on Monday (watch on ESPN and ESPN App).
Burrow connected with Ja'Marr Chase for a 56-yard pass to put LSU inside the five-yard line. A few plays later, Burrow ran the ball in himself for the touchdown. Prior to LSU's score, Clemson capped a 96-yard, four-play scoring drive.
Earlier in the game, Burrow threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Chase to even the score at 7. Clemson opened the overall scoring when quarterback Trevor Lawrence ran in for a touchdown with 6:41 left in the opening frame to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead.
