Michigan State Spartans-Maryland Terrapins canceled because of coronavirus

The Michigan State-Maryland game scheduled for Saturday in College Park has been canceled because of COVID-19 issues with Maryland. The game will not be rescheduled and will be declared a no contest.

Maryland has paused team activities after reporting that 15 athletes had tested positive between Dec. 10-16, as well as three more presumptive positive tests earlier Thursday. Six Terrapins staff members also tested positive during that span, increasing Maryland's population positivity rate to 12.4% over the past seven days.

Saturday's game, part of the Big Ten's Champions Week schedule, had been rescheduled from Nov. 21. Maryland had to cancel the original game and a Nov. 14 contest against Ohio State because of COVID-19 issues.

Maryland ends the regular season at 2-3, while Michigan State finishes at 2-5.
