Former USC AD Pat Haden hospitalized

Pat Haden, who retired in June as USC's athletic director, was taken by ambulance from the campus Tuesday and hospitalized.

Haden had felt light-headed, similar to previous health incidents, but was alert and talking, sports information director Tim Tessalone told media outlets.

Haden, 63, also experienced light-headedness on campus in February and was hospitalized before undergoing an unspecified medical procedure.

In October 2015, before a football game at Notre Dame, he dropped to a knee and was taken to the USC locker room for evaluation after feeling light-headed. He briefly went to the hospital that day.

Two weeks after the scare at Notre Dame, Haden cited unspecified health concerns when he stepped down from the College Football Playoff committee. He wasn't specific about his health problem, but he has a pacemaker.

Haden officially retired as USC AD on June 30 but has remained with the school to guide the renovation of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Haden, a former USC quarterback, ran the Trojans' athletic department for nearly six years, taking over from Mike Garrett in 2010 with a primary mandate to lead the Trojans through a multiyear stretch of NCAA sanctions against their football program.
