Kaizer Chiefs have pulled off the first major surprise of the transfer window after securing the services of Mamelodi Sundowns forward Khama Billiat, the club confirmed on Friday.

Billiat has spoken about furthering his career in Europe on a number of occasions over the last six months, but in the end will stay in the South African Premier Soccer League with Chiefs, who are seeking to end a barren run of three seasons without a trophy.

Billiat's contract with Sundowns expires at the end of the month and he will join Chiefs as a free agent, ending five successful seasons with The Brazilians, where he won three league titles and the African Champions League.

There had been reported interest in his services from Egyptian giants Zamalek, as well as teams in Turkey, Sweden and Romanina, while KweséESPN understands that Azerbaijani side Qarabag made a bit for his services in January that was turned down by Sundowns.

Also arriving at Naturena is Madagascar attacking midfielder Andriamirado Andrianarimanana, more simply known as Dax.

He was the star of the recent COSAFA Cup competition in South Africa, lifting the Player of the Tournament prize.

The third player announced by Chiefs is defender Letlhogonolo Mirwa, who had been playing in the ABC Motsepe League with North West side Buya Msuthu.
