A new spot has opened up on Team Secret's lineup. This afternoon, an update to Team Secret's registration for the next Dota 2 Major showed that Jacky "EternaLEnVy" Mao is parting ways with the organization.
According to the language on the site, EternaLEnVy left the team, as opposed to being removed from the roster by a manager or verified admin.
Mao will now be a free agent for the upcoming Fall Major, the first in the 2017 competitive Dota 2 season. He has been with Team Secret since Aug. 2015 as a carry player. It's unknown at this time which organization(s) may be looking to pick up EternaLEnVy for the unannounced Major.
EternaLEnVy and Team Secret were a dominant force at the beginning of the 2016 season, taking second in the Frankfurt Major and first place at Shanghai. Manila was less kind to the team, resulting in a 13-16th place finish that led to offlaner Saahil "UNiVeRsE" Arora departing for Evil Geniuses. Team Secret had a strong showing in the open qualifiers for The International 6, but ultimately finished 13-16th after a loss in the first round of the main event to LGD Gaming.
ESPN has reached out to Team Secret management for clarification and comment.
