European League of Legends team Unicorns of Love (UoL) took down Giants Gaming 3-0 in the first round of the European Regional Finals. UoL will move on to round two to face off against Fnatic. As a result, Giants Gaming is eliminated from World Championship contention. The Regional Finals series was a rematch of sorts of the quarterfinals of the summer split playoffs, where UoL had also proved the victor, albeit in less dominating fashion.

This time, UoL crushed through Giants Gaming with two games that ended before 26 minutes. Giants Gaming only put up a fight in game two when Lennart "Smittyj" Warkus was allowed some breathing room in the top lane to snowball. Unfortunately for Smittyj and company, the rest of the series was dictated by UoL and the fantastic play of Fabian "Exileh" Schubert. UoL was well-versed in the art of snowballing opponents and it absolutely showed.

In a situation that became slightly contentious, both teams did not scrimmage before the Regional Finals; Giants Gaming refused to play with other teams, citing internal issues, and UoL was locked out of a scrimmage partner. Evidently, the Unicorns were none the worse for it.
