Splyce took down the Unicorns of Love (UoL) 3-2 in the European Regional Qualifiers; they will represent EU as the third seed in the League of Legends World Championships. UoL was eliminated from the World Championship contention with the loss.
Splyce's three-man core of Martin "Wunder" Hansen, Chres "Sencux" Laursen, and Kasper "Kobbe" Kobberup took on the brunt of the effort in the matchup and were mostly effective, but the best player on the team was Jonas "Trashy" Andersen. While each of the aforementioned three players alternated great moments throughout the set, Trashy was consistently great throughout with disruptive plays and solid initiation.
Splyce never banned out Shen from UoL, but it didn't come back to burn the team too badly. It was not an easy victory for Splyce, but the team's better mechanical skill and discipline was the major keys and separator from the opposition. The weaknesses of the victors was apparent in the last game - the team drafted a late-game scaling composition, but struggled greatly against UoL due to several huge mistakes in fights and decision-making. If the team shores up many of its midgame and late-game decision-making and play a better lane phase, this is a strong team from the European region.
UoL played incredibly well against Splyce's well-rounded team. It took perfect advantage of every mistake and overextension from the opposing side to keep step in every game (with the exception of game one) and almost took the set.
