ZeRo featured in Guinness Book of World Records Gamers Edition

Team SoloMid's Gonzalo "ZeRo" Barrios, the most dominant Smash for Wii U player in the world, has been included in the Guinness World Records Gamers Edition 2017 for a win streak of 53 tournaments (actually 56) in a row. The record run, stretching from 2014 to 2015, could be the most dominating streak in modern video games, not just Super Smash Bros.

The incredible run spanned from November 29th, 2014 (UGC Biweekly #17) to October 4th, 2015 (The Big House 5) and features some tough times, including possibly the greatest losers bracket run in all of fighting games at The Big House 5. After falling in the second round of pools and then sweeping to the losers semifinals, ZeRo looked like he was vulnerable for the first time in a long time against Jason "Anti" Bates. Then he brought it back from the brink 2-1 to come back and win before sweeping his way through the loser's finals. In the grand finals he would sweep Nairoby "Nairo" Quezda 3-0 to reset the bracket before again falling to a 2-1 deficit. The unthinkable didn't happen that day; ZeRo somehow came back from the brink once more to defeat Nairo and win his 56th tournament.

Guinness began publishing a Gamers Edition in February 2008 and has continued to cover the records of video games and esports since then. This was the first inclusion of ZeRo's record breaking streak in the series. ZeRo has been a top Smash player across many titles including Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Project M.
