Sources: WildTurtle to stand in for TSM Doublelift at IEM Oakland

Jason "WildTurtle" Tran joined Immortals in Dec. 2015. He is now reportedly seeking to try out with other League of Legends teams like Team Dignitas. Riot Games

North American AD carry Jason "WildTurtle" Tran plans to compete with Team SoloMid at the upcoming Intel Extreme Masters Oakland tournament on Nov. 19-20. He will then travel to South Korea to bootcamp and try out for other teams, including Team Dignitas, according to sources close to the player and both organizations.

For IEM, WildTurtle will fill the role currently left vacant by Team SoloMid inactive AD carry Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng, who stepped down from the team's starting lineup on Nov. 1. WildTurtle is no stranger to the Team SoloMid brand, as he competed on the Team SoloMid starting lineup for over two years starting in March 2013, only departing after the team acquired Doublelift in October 2015.

WildTurtle's contract with his team Immortals expired on Oct. 31, with sources saying he is unlikely to re-sign an agreement with the Immortals brand. Instead, WildTurtle is currently exploring his options. He was recently seen courtside at a game featuring the Philadelphia 76ers with Dignitas coaches Brandon "Saintvicious" DiMarco and David "Cop" Roberson, with sources confirming his intention to try out for the team in the offseason. The 76ers acquired Team Dignitas in September.

At Intel Extreme Masters Oakland, WildTurtle and Team SoloMid will face off against five other confirmed foes, including Flash Wolves, Unicorns of Love, Longzhu Gaming, The Chiefs eSports Club and INTZ e-Sports.

Team SoloMid and WildTurtle did not respond to a request for comment. Team Dignitas declined to comment on this report.
