Splyce's Kim "Stats" Dae Yeob took down Eo "soO" Yoon Su 4-2 to win the Global StarCraft II League Season One: Code S (GSL) in Seoul, South Korea on Sunday. With the victory, Stats finally took home his first individual premier tournament in his almost 10-year career. Unfortunately for soO, he'll have to settle for another second-place finish.

For the majority of the set, it was all Stats. The pace of every match, the timing of attacks, the vision control and the army composition was all decided by the Protoss player. All of Stats' aggression served as the catalyst behind his dominating 3-0 game lead. Then, soO made it a series. He took his first game in the set through his patented counter-play and defense. In the second game, soO took reigns of aggression for the first time. With an early all-in, soO surprised and defeated Stats' defenses for a 3-2 series score.

Game 6 was the game of the series. It was a match of adjustment and blistering speed. Despite the map's ease for expansions, it was a near stalemate for the entirety. The army composition made all the difference between the two players. Stats used his superior technology edge for Psionic Storms and Carriers to fight off soO's massive army of Hydralisks and Speedlings. Although soO attempted to attack multiple angles with drops and mass Hydralisks, it was the perfect storm placement from Stats that prevailed. Stats should be considered the best Protoss player in StarCraft II and showcased that throughout the playoffs of the GSL. His path was incredibly tough, but his resilience in the grand finals was a perfect representation of the Protoss player's signature play.
