Sources: AD carry Freeze to join FlyQuest

Czech AD carry Freeze will get promoted from the League of Legends Challenger Series for a role in the North American League Championship Series as Flyquest's new AD carry. Riot Games

Czech AD carry Aleš "Freeze" Kněžínek has finalized an agreement to transfer from Challenger Series team Tempo Storm and join North American League Championship Series team FlyQuest, sources close to the player and team told ESPN.

With the move, Freeze will replace Johnny "Altec" Ru, who has competed with the team since it was initially formed as Cloud9 Challenger in April 2016. Over the last month, FlyQuest negotiated with several AD carries, including Konstantinos-Napoleon "FORG1VEN" Tzortziou, who has been without a professional team since both Freeze and his departure from H2K Gaming at the end of 2016.

FlyQuest is the newest team among the League Championship Series, qualifying for the series in August and later being purchased by Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wesley Edens in December for a record buy-in of $1.8 million. With the purchase, Edens and his son Ryan, who serves as a co-operator of the team, also purchased the four contracts of the Cloud9 Challenger players, the likes of Altec, An "Balls" Van Le, Hai "Hai" Du Lam, and Daerek "LemonNation" Hart.

In its debut season, the team beat Counter Logic Gaming in the quarterfinals of the North American League Championship Series playoffs, before losing out to Team SoloMid in the semis. From there, it faced Phoenix1 in the third place match in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on April 22, where FlyQuest ended up losing.
