H2k-Gaming storms back to topple Misfits Gaming

Whatever Neil "pr0lly" Hammad had to say to his players must have worked, as H2k-Gaming stormed back for a massive comeback win against Misfits Gaming. Provided by Riot Games

H2k-Gaming completed one of the largest comebacks of the 2017 European League of Legends Championship Series summer split on Friday to secure a 2-0 sweep over Misfits, closing out Week 5, Day 2 in Berlin.

H2K (5-2, 11-4 match record) opened the series with a heavy engage composition, picking up an early first blood and tower before things evened out through the course of the early game. The midgame is where it got interesting, with Misfits support Lee ""IgNar" Dong-geun using his Thresh to get his team a 4-for-0 teamfight win and Baron at 24 minutes. There may not have been another kill for 17 minutes, but Misfits held firm to its lead heading into the late game. All it took was a single pick from H2K to earn a Baron and complete control over the game at 41-minute-mark. At this point, Misfits were desperate to get a win, which led to mid laner Tristan "PowerOfEvil" Schrage making the fateful decision to try and splitpush his team to victory. He managed to bulldoze his way into the H2K base, but without him, his teammates were decimated in a teamfight that ended up losing Misfits the game after 50 grueling minutes.

Game 2 gave us the answer to the question of whether a team can be down almost 5,000 gold at 13 minutes and still get the win. In H2K's case, at least, the answer is a resounding yes. Misfits (4-2, 8-7 match record) shot out of the gate with a powerful teamfighting composition centered around Xayah and Rakan in the bottom lane, which allowed it to amass the biggest gold lead at 15 minutes in the Summer Split thus far. Despite having such control over the game, a messy teamfight 24 minutes saw H2K wrestle control back with an 5-for-3 ace powered by the quadra kill from top laner Andrei "Odoamne" Pascu's Camille. This single fight gave H2K heaps of momentum, which it used to breeze right past Misfits for the incredible 38-minute comeback victory.

Misfits will hope to rebound from the tough loss against the Unicorns of Love on Friday, July 14 at 2 p.m. ET, while H2K will next see action on Thursday, July 13 at 2 p.m. ET against ROCCAT.
