Dignitas catches fire in sweep of TSM

Team Dignitas kept up its hot streak in a sweep of Team SoloMid on Saturday. Riot Games

Team Dignitas continued its hot streak on Saturday with a dominant 2-0 sweep over Team SoloMid to kick off Week 7, Day 2 of the North American League of Legends Championship Series in Los Angeles.

Team Dignitas (8-5, 21-15 match record) came into Game 1 of this series with a gameplan, denying five champions from TSM mid laner Soren "Bjergsen" Bjerg and forcing him onto Xerath. Dignitas drafted a fairly potent teamfighting composition of its own, jumping ahead after surrendering first blood with a beautiful 3-for-0 skirmish in the bottom lane at 10 minutes. Team SoloMid (9-4, 20-9) did what it could to get gold onto Bjergsen while staying within striking distance of Dignitas, but a 22-minute Baron for Dignitas gave it complete control of the map. Knocking down the mid lane inhibitor at 25 minutes, Dignitas enjoyed a gold lead of roughly 11,000 gold at 30 minutes before securing a second Baron kill, but TSM came alive with a 3-for-0 followup fight. Dignitas remained unfazed, dominating a 3-for-0 fight when it respawned and pushing for a 33-minute win.

Continuing to play like a top-tier team in Game 2, Dignitas's deathball composition was bolstered by its bottom lane, who played extremely well. AD carry Johnny "Altec" Ru and support Adrian "Adrian" Ma crushed the bottom lane 2-vs-2 as Sivir and Janna, respectively, taking first turret gold at 11 minutes. First blood was elusive early on as Dignitas was focused on objectives into the midgame, but finally came around when Dignitas caught TSM AD carry Yilliang "Doublelift" Peng's Tristana splitpushing alone at 18 minutes. After securing a 25-minute Baron buff, Dignitas threatened to stampede through TSM's defenses as it increased its gold lead to 4,300 by 28 minutes. In the late game, that gold lead led to Altec carrying Dignitas with Sivir's abundance of area of effect damage in teamfights, empowered by a mega-rich Adrian with constant Eye of the Storm shields. TSM couldn't stop Dignitas in the late game as DIG took a final 5-for-1 ace at 35 minutes to close out the 2-0 sweep.

Team Dignitas looks to make this a statement weekend with a win over a struggling Cloud9 on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET, while Team SoloMid looks to regroup with a series against Echo Fox at 3 p.m. ET also on Sunday.
