Immortals demolished Echo Fox in a 2-0 series victory during Week 9, Day 2 of the North American League Championship Series in Los Angeles to move one step closer to ending the Summer Split in first place.

With both teams being on opposite sides of the standings, Immortals was expected to claim a convincing series victory while Echo Fox was simply attempting to play spoiler for Immortals' chance at the No. 1 spot in the standings.

The first game of the series saw a relatively back-and-forth early game, with both teams picking up kills left and right, but Immortals came out ahead due to its superior macro game. After picking up several early objectives for itself, Immortals (14-4, 30-15 match record) quickly built a sizable lead. Although Echo Fox (5-12, 16-25 match record) was able to trade kills evenly, Immortals had map control, and that was enough to secure Baron as well as numerous dragons and towers to build on its massive gold lead. Immortals moved to end the match quickly, with AD carry Cody "Cody Sun" Sun's Sivir eventually picking up a quadra-kill and closing out the game.

Game 2 went even worse for Echo Fox, which fell behind from the get-go and was never able to recover. Giving up five kills in just 10 minutes while allowing Immortals to build a nearly 5,000-gold lead, the team was put in an extremely compromised position. Although AD carry Brandon "Mash" Phan was able to find a pair of kills on Kog'Maw, the support on Immortals' side, Kim "Olleh" Joo-sung, dominated on Alistar, continually picking up multi-man knock-ups that allowed his team to win fights convincingly. After picking up a Baron in the 20th minute, Immortals had no trouble swiftly closing out the game, nearly breaking the fastest game record of the split.

With the victory, Immortals moved itself neck-and-neck with Team SoloMid in the standings. With an already secured first-round bye, Immortals will root for Counter Logic Gaming to defeat Team SoloMid in Sunday's series, which would then lock up the first-place seed for Immortals.

Echo Fox will look to bounce back from the defeat against on Cloud9 at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday in its last chance to end a lackluster split on a high note.
