Team Liquid are currently working on deals to sign Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng and Kim "Olleh" Joo-sung as their starting bottom lane for the 2018 season, sources close to both players and the organization told ESPN.
Doublelift and Olleh will join a starting roster that is expected to consist of Jung "Impact" Eon-yeong -- who the team will sign after the free agency opening on Tuesday -- as well as Jake "Xmithie" Puchero and Eugene "Pobelter" Park, sources said.
Doublelift's intent to sign with the team was first reported by theScore Esports.
Team Liquid also has a number of other players on its books through the 2018 and 2019 seasons that it will either sell contracts for or move to its academy lineup. Among those are top laner Samuel "Lourlo" Jackson, junglers Kim "Reignover" Ui-jin, Joshua "Dardoch" Hartnett and Andy "AnDa" Hoang, mid laners Sun "Mickey" Yong-min and Greyson "Goldenglue" Gilmer and AD carry Cody Sun. The fates of those players are currently uncertain.
Liquid completed a deal to acquire contract rights to Xmithie, AnDa, Pobelter and Cody Sun from Immortals -- who were not accepted into the franchised League Championship Series -- on Saturday. Immortals was required to either sell or terminate the players it had contracted through 2018 and 2019 in order to be entitled to its exit payment, valued at an approximate $2.85 million.
With the move, Doublelift and Olleh will reunite with Pobelter and Xmithie, who both have competed with the duo in the last few years.
Doublelift, Pobelter and Xmithie were a part of the Counter Logic Gaming lineup that took first in the North American League of Legends Championship Series in summer of 2015 at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Olleh competed with Xmithie and Pobelter on the Immortals lineup that placed second in North America and went to the League of Legends World Championship in the 2017 season.
Doublelift also competed with Liquid briefly in the 2017 season. The majority of his last two years, however, have been with Team SoloMid. He will part ways with that team after it has pursued a new bottom lane.
