Team Liquid confirmed Thursday that Chu "shadow" Zeyu has been approved by Valve as an emergency stand-in for mid-laner Amer "Miracle-" Al-Barkawi, who will miss the $1 million Chongqing Major.
The team announced on Wednesday that Miracle- would not be able to attend the event due to "an urgent personal matter" that arose, dispelling rumors that he may have been dealing with visa issues. shadow was quickly identified as his likely replacement, with the team finalizing the agreement Thursday to have the T16 champion stand-in.
Liquid said they are still "working with Valve to figure out the DPC points situation." Typically teams avoid DPC points penalties only for unavoidable situations such as a player being denied a visa.
Liquid is in Group C, with their opening match scheduled for Sunday against The Pango.
