Los Angeles Valiant fire coach after 0-7 start

The Los Angeles Valiant fired head coach Moon "Moon" Byung-chul on Monday, two days after the team fell to 0-7 in Stage 1 of the second season of the Overwatch League.

"We want to thank Coach Moon for his contributions to the Pacific Division and Stage 4 Championships achieved by the team in 2018," Valiant general manager Michael Schwartz said in a statement. "We wish him the best in the next stage of his career."

Moon joined the team last February and led the Valiant to victory in Stage 4 of the inaugural season. The Valiant then fell in the semifinals of the inaugural playoffs before starting this season 0-7, leaving them as one of only two winless teams through four weeks (the Washington Justice are 0-5).

Moon had previously coached for WGS Laurels Nine, LW Red, Ardeont as well as Mighty AOD, where he had worked with current Valiant members Koo "Fate" Pan-Seung and Park "KariV" Young-Seo.

The Valiant announced assistant coach Mike "Packing10" Szklanny will act as interim head coach, while Warsi "Stoop" Waris and Dong-soo "Dongsu" Shin will remain as assistants.
