Geguri named one of Time's Next Generation Leaders

Kim "Geguri" Se-yeon has been named one of Time Magazine's Next Generation Leaders. Robert Paul for Blizzard Entertainment

Time magazine named 19-year-old Kim "Geguri" Se-yeon, a member of the Shanghai Dragons of the Overwatch League, as one of its "Next Generation Leaders."

Geguri, a South Korean, began playing video games at age 5 with her mother and she became the league's first female player when she joined the Dragons in March 2018. She became so good at Overwatch she was wrongly accused of cheating, which she disproved.

She told Time that she would prefer to focus on helping the Dragons win rather than think about being her gender's only representative in the Overwatch League, but she understands her obligations.

"Since I am the only female player in the whole league, I think there are a lot of people who look up to me and see me as a role model," Geguri said. "Knowing this, I'm trying a lot harder to inspire others to get to where I am today."
