Enigma6 cruise in CWL Championship winners bracket

Enigma6 Group were the only team to sweep to victory in first round of the Call of Duty World League Championship knockout stage, beating Elevate 3-0 on Friday in Los Angeles.

The $2 million, 32-team tournament began with eight pools of four teams each, with round-robin play starting Wednesday and finishing Thursday. The top two teams from each group advanced to the double-elimination knockout stage, which features best-of-five matches from Friday through Sunday's grand final.

Only three of the eight teams that went unbeaten in the group stage won their opening knockout-stage encounter on Friday. OpTic Gaming topped Team Heretics 3-1 to earn a second-round date with Enigma6, and Call of Duty World League finals champion eUnited beat Team WaR 3-1.

The first-round "upsets" saw Evil Geniuses defeat Splyce 3-1, Sicario got past Team Singularity 3-1, Units edged Team Envy 3-2, Team Reciprocity beat FaZe Clan 3-1, and Luminosity Gaming toppled 100 Thieves 3-1.

These are Saturday's second-round matchups in the winners bracket:

  • eUnited vs. Evil Geniuses

  • Sicario vs. Units

  • Team Reciprocity vs. Luminosity Gaming

  • OpTic Gaming vs. Enigma6 Group

The first four losers bracket matches were contested Friday. Team WaR eliminated Splyce 3-2, Singularity knocked out Envy 3-1, 100 Thieves dumped FaZe Clan 3-2, and Elevate ousted Team Heretics 3-2.
