Seoul Dynasty are facilitating a transfer that would see London Spitfire tank Jae-hee "Gesture" Hong and Joon-yeong "Profit" Park move to the South Korean Overwatch League team, sources familiar with the deal told ESPN.
The move is the first offseason change for the Seoul Dynasty, who finished seventh-eighth in the Overwatch League Season 2 playoffs last September after a loss to the Hangzhou Spark. The transfer marks an end to Gesture and Profit's tenure on the London Spitfire, which they joined in November 2017 ahead of the inaugural Overwatch League season.
Seoul Dynasty is expected to continue being aggressive in free agency, with the advantage of being the only team that will be based in South Korea when the Overwatch League geolocates for the 2020 season. A large percentage of players who competed in the Overwatch League this season are from South Korea.
Gesture and Profit helped the Spitfire become Overwatch League Season 1 champions in July 2018 in New York.
The Seoul Dynasty first entered the Overwatch League in late 2017 and came with high expectations. The initial roster for the team included players from Lunatic-Hai, then one of the top-ranked teams in the OGN Overwatch APEX league in South Korea, the highest level of global competition before the Overwatch League was established. The team, however, did not see results as expected in 2018 and 2019, finishing eighth in the first season and then again in the second.
The Spitfire enter the offseason with a slim roster after the transfer of Gesture and Profit. Remaining players under contract with the Cloud9-owned team include Kim "Fury" Jun-ho, Choi "Bdosin" Seung-tae, Jung "Krillin" Yung-hoon and Song "Quatermain" Ji-hoon.
London Spitfire and Seoul Dynasty declined to comment.
