G2 Esports beat SK Telecom T1 3-1 in the League of Legends World Championship on Sunday in Madrid to earn the second spot in the championship finals.
Playing at the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid, G2 were led by jungler Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski, who earned MVP honors.
It's the first time G2, which won the other international tournament of the year, the Mid-Season Invitational, have made the world final.
The teams split the first two games before G2 won out to seal their title shot.
G2, the second-place team out of Group A, is considered the best European League of Legends team in history, having arrived at the worlds as Europe's League European Championship summer champion. They also won the $1 million MSI, where G2 eliminated SKT 3-2 in a dramatic semifinal contest.
FunPlus Phoenix knocked off defending champion Invictus Gaming 3-1 on Saturday in the first semifinal.
FPX won the League of Legends Pro League Summer Playoffs to earn an automatic entry into the world championship.
G2 and FPX will take the stage at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris on Nov. 10 to battle it out for the Summoner's Cup. The champion also will receive 37.5 percent of the prize pool, which will be at least $2.225 million in total, according to developer Riot Games. The runner-up will take home 13.5 percent of the pool.
Invictus Gaming and SKT will earn at least $155,750 for their semifinal finish.
Worlds began in October. with 16 teams divided into four groups for a double round robin of single-game matches. The top two teams in each group advanced to the best-of-five quarterfinals.
