The Toronto Defiant made another high-profile move as part of the team's offseason overhaul with Monday's addition of Lane "Surefour" Roberts for Season 3.
"Nobody saw this coming, right? We're so excited to announce that @Surefour will be joining the Defiant for Season 3!" the team tweeted Monday. "Our GM and HC personally wanted Tisumi, but he'll do. Oh, and wish him a Happy Birthday too!"
Tisumu was a reference to one of the 25-year-old Canadian's alternate IDs, which he used for his female character in Aion. Surefour played the first two seasons of the OWL for the Los Angeles Gladiators, and the flex DPS player has been on each of the past four Team Canada World Cup rosters.
Toronto finished Season 2 tied for 17th out of 20 teams with an 8-20 record and failed to reach the playoffs while having a minus-33 map differential (39-72-4).
Surefour's addition comes after the acquisition of Adam "Beast" Denton from the Philadelphia Fusion last week.
The Defiant previously announced that Andreas "Logix" Berghmans will remain with the team for the upcoming season and named Felix "Fefe" Munch as head coach. Fefe previously served as head coach of the Paris Eternal.
The Defiant have also added support Park "KariV" Young-seo and DPS Brady "Agilities" Girardi this offseason.
Lee "Ivy" Seung-hyun was sent to the Fusion, and Toronto has parted ways with Park "Neko" Se-hyeon, Jo "Yakpung" Gyeong-mu, Hong "im37" Jin-ui, Go "Aid" Jae-yoon, Normunds "sharyk" Faterins and Daniel "Gods" Graeser" since the end of Season 2.
Aid has since retired from competition and joined the Paris Eternal as an assistant coach.
Dallas Fuel add main tank Gamsu
The Dallas Fuel announced the addition of Noh "Gamsu" Young-jin, confirming reports just hours after the main tank parted ways with the Shanghai Dragons on Monday.
"I can't wait to start this next journey in my career with @DallasFuel," Gamsu tweeted. "I have a good feeling for this next season!!"
Gamsu, 24, played for the Shanghai Dragons in Season 2 after playing for the Boston Uprising during the OWL's inaugural season. The Dragons announced his departure from the team earlier on Monday.
"He was our shield and with him we achieved our first win and stage championship," the Dragons tweeted Monday. "With respect to his decision, we have decided to part ways with Young-jin "Gamsu" Noh. We thank him for all his contributions and wish him the best of luck.
Gamsu's professional career also includes competing as a top laner for prominent League of Legends teams including Samsung Galaxy Blue, Team Dignitas and Fnatic.
Gamsu helped the Dragons win the Overwatch League Stage 3 Playoffs in July, a remarkable turnaround for a group that went 0-40 in 2018.
"I had many good memories with team and we achieved a lot together!" Gamsu tweeted Monday. "Thank you Shanghai Dragons for having me as a part of team and thank you to fans that cheered me on. I look forward to what the future holds!"
Jin "YOUNGTIN" Young-jin left the Dragons last month, while Moon "Moon" Byung-chul replaced We "BlueHaS" Seong-hwan as the head coach of the China-based team in September.
