Washington Redskins star Landon Collins is now an investor in ReKTGlobal, the parent company of the professional esports organization Rogue.
The All-Pro safety joined a team of investors that also includes Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert, the company announced Thursday.
"Landon is a passionate gamer who can go head to head against esports pros and beat them," ReKTGlobal founder and chairman Amish Shah said in a statement. "A legend on and off the field, Collins is a great fit to add to our all-star list of investors. We are thrilled to welcome him to our organization and growing family."
According to the news release, the 25-year-old Collins has a long history with gaming and esports and is "known for playing video games to connect with his fellow players and to wind down while off the field."
"Esports is one of the most lucrative industries right now and its future is bright," Collins said. "As a professional athlete and a passionate gamer, I understand and appreciate what ReKTGlobal is doing to further connect the worlds of traditional sports and esports. I love competition and the competitive nature of the gaming industry and I'm excited to enter a new realm of competition through my investment."
A second-round pick in 2015 by the New York Giants, Collins made three straight Pro Bowls with New York (2016-18) before signing a six-year, $84 million contract with the Redskins last March.
Collins has 78 tackles, five tackles for loss and one sack in nine starts this season. In 68 career games (all starts), the Alabama product has 515 tackles, eight interceptions and five sacks.
