The Boston Uprising have signed main damage player Sang-Beom "Munchkin" Byun of South Korea ahead of the 2020 Overwatch season, the team announced Thursday.

"Munchkin has a long and successful history in competitive Overwatch," said Chris "HuK" Loranger, Boston's president of gaming. "We think his maturity and experience will be valuable to the Uprising in 2020, and we're excited to have him on the team."

Munchkin, 21, most recently played two seasons for the Seoul Dynasty, who reached the semifinals in Stage 1 and the quarterfinals in Stage 3 in 2019. They lost both matches in the double-elimination, season-ending playoffs.

The signing is currently pending league approval.

The 2020 OWL season kicks off Saturday, Feb 8., with the Uprising opening their season Feb. 9 vs. the New York Excelsior.
