Team Vitality to host VALORANT tourney July 10-12

Team Vitality have announced they will host a VALORANT tournament July 10-12.

Vitality released the news in a Twitter video Thursday. The event will feature an open format with 128 slots available; any team is able to register and attempt to qualify.

Phase 1 will be the open qualifier, with eight concurrent one-match, single-elimination tournaments with a best-of-three final. The eight respective winners of those tournaments will qualify for the main event.

In Phase 2, the eight teams are placed in two round-robin groups and will play best-of-three matchups. The top two teams in each group move on.

Phase 3 will be the playoffs in a double-elimination bracket format with the final being best-of-five.

The prize pool breaks down as follows:

  • Winner: 10,000 euros ($11,233.68)

  • Second: 2,000 euros ($2,246.74)

  • Third and fourth: 1,000 euros ($1123.37)

  • Fifth through eighth: 250 euros ($280.84)

The event will be streamed on Vitality's Twitch channel, with registration available at vitalityeuropeanopen.com. Play will start each day at 9 a.m. ET.

This marks the second European tournament as part of the ongoing official VALORANT Ignition Series, with the first being the G2 Esports VALORANT Invitational, which saw a mix of pro players and streamers/content creators that took place on June 19-21.

Thus far, Vitality have not announced a VALORANT competitive roster. However, Vitality's owner, Fabien "Neo" Devide, told ESPN that the org is still exploring options and will use the tournament as an opportunity to scout promising players and lineups.
