Fantasy Insights: Nationals full of treasure

Juan Soto's balance of production across all categories makes him a solid first-round fantasy option. Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports

Spring is here and Eric Karabell misses baseball, so he is going to write about all 30 MLB teams over the next few months, covering myriad player values and his general thoughts for what he hopes will ultimately be a fruitful 2020 season.

Next up, the Washington Nationals.

Top fantasy storyline: Sure, the World Series champions lost a big bat in third baseman Anthony Rendon, but they still retain a pair of first-round fantasy hitters. Meanwhile, the rotation is led by a pair of high-strikeout right-handers you can build a fantasy staff around, along with a left-hander you can slot in as a strong No. 2. In other words, the Nationals remain loaded. Fantasy managers might wonder how great Juan Soto can become, and if Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg can maintain their high level of achievement, but there doesn't seem to be anything to worry about here.
