LIVE Transfer Talk: Tottenham keen to land Chelsea's Zouma for £25m

The summer transfer window is into its final month for the major European leagues, which means the biggest clubs are looking to make a splash in the market before the new season begins. Check out the latest gossip below, and see all official deals here.

TOP STORY: Tottenham keen to land Chelsea's Zouma

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a £25 million deal for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, according to Sky Sports.

Zouma, 26, doesn't appear to be in the first-team plans of Thomas Tuchel, with sources telling ESPN that Chelsea are looking to land Sevilla's Jules Kounde for around £60m before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

Initially, the Blues had looked at including Zouma as part of the deal for Kounde to lower the overall fee, but reports have suggested that Zouma is keen to stay in London.

The centre-back is West Ham's primary defensive target but now Tottenham have entered the race, they are favourites. Spurs have also been linked with Fiorentina's Nikola Milenkovic as they look to strengthen their defence further after the addition of Atalanta's Cristian Romero.

Zouma was an unused substitute in Chelsea's opening Premier League win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

21.48 BST: Corriere dello Sport writes that Everton are set to move on from James Rodriguez, with the 30-year-old Colombia midfielder destined for Atletico Madrid, and could quickly jump at Lazio attacker Joaquin Correa as a replacement. The Roman club would require a transfer fee of between €30m and €35m to allow the Toffees the right to sign the 27-year-old.

But the Merseysiders won't be without competition. The report suggests that Internazionale are equally interested in the Argentina international, and that Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are both monitoring the situation.

21.05 BST: Maurizio Sarri is looking for a winger to help implement his style at Lazio, and Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Pedro has been identified as the player to do it. But any move for the former Barcelona and Chelsea attacker will prove complicated.

For starters, AS Roma would demand a transfer fee to sanction the 34-year-old's departure. And then there's the World Cup winner's €3m annual wages. With the Biancocelesti low on cash, reportedly having difficulty registering players who've arrived on free transfers, financing a deal to bring Pedro to the other side of Rome seems unlikely unless they're able to raise funds through outgoing deals.

20.22 BST: Lyon have reached an agreement with Chelsea and Emerson that will see the 27-year-old left-back move to the historic French club on loan, without an option to make the move permanent, according to Le10 Sport. Napoli are said to have been in negotiations to bring the Italy international back to Serie A, but this report would suggest they've been beaten to the punch.

20.00 BST: Brazilian giants Flamengo have announced that they've signed 25-year-old wide man Kenedy on loan from Chelsea. This marks the former Brazil youth international's fifth short-term arrangement away from Stamford Bridge since moving to the club in 2015, following stints at Watford, Newcastle United, Getafe and Granada.

19.39 BST: Sport Bild writes that RB Leipzig captain Marcel Sabitzer wants to leave the club after six seasons, and the Red Bull-backed outfit would prefer to earn a fee for the 27-year-old midfielder's departure rather than lose him on a free transfer next summer. Bayern Munich are said to be the preferred destination, although they're presently unable to finance an €18m move offer to satisfy Leipzig's valuation -- a situation that other interested parties AS Roma and AC Milan are also in.

18.56 BST: With Tammy Abraham now at AS Roma and interest growing in Kurt Zouma, potentially helping fill Chelsea's coffers, AS reports that Sevilla are expecting another bid for centre-back Jules Kounde. The 22-year-old France international had reportedly agreed personal terms in West London weeks ago, but the deal has since gone quiet. With the Blues continuing to raise funds through outgoing transfers, their primary target in the heart of defence may yet land at Stamford Bridge.

18.34 BST: Juventus have completed the signing of midfielder Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo, it was announced on Wednesday. The 23-year-old, who was a member of Italy's victorious Euro 2020 squad, started his career at AC Milan before moving to Sassuolo on loan in 2018 and then joining them permanently a year later. Read the full story.

18.13 BST: Real Madrid have been largely quiet this summer, but they could be preparing to make a splash ahead of the 2022-23 season, according to Marca. Los Blancos' interest in Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has been known for some time, and the report states that the Spanish club estimates that PSG will sanction the 22-year-old France international's transfer for €160m.

And then things get interesting. Because Madrid reportedly have already sounded out Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland over personal terms, and will be prepared to activate the 22-year-old Norway international's €75m release clause - with some reports claiming that the fee will rise to €90m after bonuses and incentives.

Two summer transfer windows, two of the game's most talented young forwards reportedly moving to Real Madrid. A true Galactico plan if there ever was one.

17.30 BST: Reminder that Barcelona will probably not be doing any major business in the rest of the transfer window...

17.00 BST: Can Everton's Rafa Benitez win over the fans despite his Liverpool past? Mark Ogden explains.

The noise surrounding his appointment -- and the threatening banners close to his house, warning him against taking the job -- did little to dissuade Benitez from trading red for blue in a football-crazed city. In the end, he did what he always does, refusing to be affected by outside influences.

"One of Rafa's greatest strengths, and some would say his biggest weakness, is his honesty and refusal to say or do anything other than what he believes in," a long-time associate of Benitez told ESPN.

"I remember one occasion when he was in charge at Real Madrid and was asked whether Cristiano Ronaldo was the best player in the world. Anyone but Rafa would have said, 'yes, he's amazing, the best footballer I've ever seen,' because that's the way to operate if you coach Real and you are asked that question about their star player. But instead, he said that Ronaldo was simply the 'best I've coached' and you can imagine how that was received!

"But that's Rafa: he won't go against his principles just for an easy life, and that's why he has taken the Everton job. He sees it as a great chance to manage an ambitious Premier League team again and his Liverpool past was never going to be a problem for Rafa."

16.12 BST: Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has joined Flamengo on loan, according to O Dia.

Pereira, who was an unused substitute for the 5-1 win over Leeds United on Saturday, is keen to secure regular first-team football and is open to a move away from Old Trafford before the transfer deadline.

United would prefer to move the midfielder on permanently or negotiate a loan deal with an obligation to sign him, but sources have told ESPN they had to settle for a straight loan.

Pereira, 25, was expecting to hear on Monday whether a decision had been made on his future after talks involving manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, director of football negotiations Matt Judge and the Brazilian's representatives. He still has two years left on the contract he signed in 2019.

Everton were also reported to be interested, but sources told ESPN that the Premier League side have other priorities.

16.00 BST: Romelu Lukaku has been speaking after his £97.5m move to Chelsea from Inter Milan.

"It feels great to be back,' Lukaku said. "It doesn't feel like I'm coming into a new team because I've been here before and I know a few of the players from before.

"I'm really happy to be here and it's a good feeling to be joining the European champions. The guys are hungry for more and they want to keep winning. In training yesterday, I could see there was a really good intensity and everyone looked sharp.

"Now I have the chance to join a team that's very hungry and very ambitious. I can't wait to add something to this group and I'm excited to get started."

On his squad number he added: "Can I say it? Yeah. I got the No. 9. I'm very happy and fortunate to be in this situation."

15.35 BST: Surely PSG won't let Kylian Mbappe leave this summer, will they?

14.48 BST: New Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo wants to sign Wolves winger Adama Traore, says AS.

Traore, 25, played under Nuno at Wolves last season and has 10 goals in 132 games for the club since moving from Middlesbrough in 2018.

Tottenham are keen to strengthen their attack, while Wolves are readying Valencia wideman Goncalo Guedes as Traore's replacement.

14.40 BST: Napoli have confirmed the signing of Juan Jesus from AS Roma.

14.22 BST: Barcelona made an audacious move to sign Juventus forward Dejan Kulusevski with Ousmane Dembele going the other way, according to Calciomercato.

Kulusevski only signed for Juve for €35m from Atalanta in January 2020 and scored seven goals in 47 games for the club last season after spending six months on loan at Parma.

Barcelona proposed a swap deal but Juve didn't want Dembele due to his recent injury record which saw him pick up hamstring complaint at Euro 2020 with France.

13.53 BST: Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury is of interest to Newcastle, says The Daily Mail.

Choudhury, 23, has slipped down the pecking order at Leicester but still has two years left on his contract.

13.34 BST: You would have been forgiven for forgetting that Michy Batshuayi is still a Chelsea player, but now he's signed a new contract until 2023.

Despite spending most of his career on loan, the 27-year-old striker is heading to Turkey to join Besiktas for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

13.07 BST: Sport1 claims that Borussia Dortmund hope to capitalise on Erling Haaland's form by increasing his 2022 release clause to €90m.

Haaland, 21, has scored 62 goals in 62 games for Dortmund since signing in 2019 and has a reported release clause of €75m which comes into effect next summer.

However, Dortmund are hoping to raise that by €15m and presented their case to super-agent Mino Raiola and Haaland's father Alfe-Inge.

12.15 BST: Bournemouth may be in the Championship now but they can still ask a hefty fee for their players.

Fabrizio Romano reports that 24-year-old winger Arnaut Danjuma is set to move to LaLiga side Villarreal for £20m on a five-year contract.

12.04 BST: Tottenham and captain Harry Kane are on a collision course...

The Daily Mail reports that "Kane believes chairman Daniel Levy has broken a promise to let him leave Tottenham this summer. Sources close to the England captain insist he will continue to give everything to Spurs, despite feeling that the club have not matched his ambitions."

Kane, 28, believes he had a verbal agreement that he would be allowed leave if Spurs didn't win a trophy or qualify for the Champions League last season, which they didn't.

The England striker signed a six-year deal in 2018 and Tottenham want £150m to let him go this summer, with Man City offering only £125m.

Kane was named in the squad for the trip to Portugal for Wednesday's Europa Conference League playoff tie against Pacos de Ferreira, but is unlikely to travel.

11.37 BST: Sassuolo and Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli is having his medical at Juventus, ahead of a €35m move.

11.25 BST: Cadena Ser reports that PSG sporting director Leonardo has told the players that Kylian Mbappe will be staying this summer.

Mbappe, 23, has a contract which expires in 2022 and is keen to move to Real Madrid.

However, the signing of Lionel Messi from Barcelona means the pair will team up for the 2021-22 campaign and it remains to be seen if Mbappe then agrees a new short-term contract, or leaves on a free himself next year.

10.32 BST: Australia international Hayley Raso has signed a two-year deal with Manchester City, the club announced on Wednesday.

Raso, 26, joins City from Everton where she spent the last 18 months. They finished fifth in the Women's Super League and were beaten in the FA Cup final by City.

"I think it is such a big club and somewhere I wanted to be. I spoke with the coach and he spoke extremely highly of the facilities, the staff, the players and the club in general," Raso told ESPN. "I want to be competing for trophies and playing in the Champions League so it was a pretty easy decision for me to want to come here.

"I played in America for five years and after that I think I wanted to expand and I wanted to play European football because you could see how much it was developing. So I had my first season at Everton and I really enjoyed it. I think the league is really tough and really challenging and the chance to play in Europe and compete for trophies."

09.59 BST: Arsenal are closing in on a deal worth around €40m for Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard, sources have told ESPN's James Olley.

Personal terms are yet to be finalised but no issues are expected and Arsenal are now confident of sealing an agreement once the finer details of the fee are determined.

Odegaard spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal, making 20 appearances and scoring twice in all competitions, but initially returned to Spain hoping to force hie way into Madrid's first team.

However, Carlo Ancelotti replaced Zinedine Zidane as head coach and Odegaard was subsequently told he faced a fight for regular action this season.

The key breakthrough was Madrid's decision earlier this month to drop their asking price from €60m to €45m.

09.30 BST: Julien Laurens on Lionel Messi's first week at PSG: Rondos, team barbecues and house hunting.

While he's adjusting to the city and its spoils, it's also time for him to get back to work.

On Sunday, he took part in a few "rondos" and then he humbled midfielder Idrissa Gueye at Teqball, the sport that combines soccer with table tennis and is played on a curved table. On Monday, his new teammates (or at least the ones who had never played with him before) got a little taste of Messi's talent during his first proper collective training session.

Messi was given a raucous welcome by PSG fans during Sunday's game and has been adjusting nicely to life in the French capital. Getty Even short of match fitness and after not having kicked a ball for more than a month since Argentina's Copa America win, Messi was amazing, impressing everyone. He was the "free player" in the main training drill, which meant he was playing for both teams during the little matches. It all looked easy to him, but he was fantastic.

On Tuesday, Mauricio Pochettino paired Messi with Mbappe in the 2-on-2 exercises. Let's say that they found each other very well and scored lots of goals. Then, they were both in the winning team for the final 6-on-6 drill, in what was the first time Neymar, Messi and Mbappe were actually playing together.

There were a lot of smiles and laughter on the pitch and in the dressing room, where Messi has found his place really easily. On Sunday, he naturally got invited to Ander Herrera's 32nd birthday party at the midfielder's house -- Neymar, Di Maria, Paredes, Navas, Marquinhos, Icardi and many others were there. Messi also loved the asado (the Argentine version of a barbecue) organised on Sunday at the training ground after training.

One thing's sure in the first week, though it's still early in his time at the club: Messi's arrival has already raised the effort levels at training. "Everyone wants to show him how good they are. Even in rondos, you can see the difference. He has lifted the level up and the buzz around the place is also incredible," a source told ESPN.

08.44 BST: Manchester City are pushing ahead with their bid to sign Harry Kane despite continued denials from Tottenham that they are prepared to listen to offers for the striker, sources have told ESPN's Rob Dawson.

City have just over two weeks to complete the deal before the transfer window shuts on Aug. 31, and there are plans to test Spurs' resolve to keep the England captain.

Tottenham value Kane, who has three years left on his contract, at more than £150m. Although privately City have suggested they will not meet the asking price for his rights, sources have told ESPN they would be willing to break the British transfer record for a second time this summer after having already paid £100m to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

They could go as high as £120m plus add-ons for Kane, but there has so far been little encouragement from Spurs that an offer in that region would be accepted.

08.30 BST: Cristiano Ronaldo has lashed out over the transfer rumours regarding his future, accusing people of being "disrespectful" yet stopping short of committing his future to Serie A giants Juventus.

The former Real Madrid forward, who scored a record 451 goals during his nine years at the club from 2009-18, was linked with a shock return to work under Carlo Ancelotti again this week. Ronaldo joined Juventus for €100m in July 2018 and Spanish late-night TV show El Chiringuito claimed on Monday night that a sensational return to LaLiga was on the cards.

Ancelotti distanced himself from reuniting with Ronaldo before the Portugal international addressed his future on Instagram.

He wrote: "Anyone who knows me is aware of how focused I am on my work. Less talk and more action, this has been my guiding motto since the start of my career. However, in view of everything that's been said and written recently, I have to set out my position.

"More than the disrespect for me as a man and as a player, the frivolous way that my future is covered in the media is disrespectful to all the clubs involved in these rumours, as well as to their players and staff. My story at Real Madrid has been written. It's been recorded. In words and numbers, in trophies and titles, in records and in headlines. It's in the Museum at the Bernabeu Stadium and it's also in the minds of every fan of the club.

"I remember that in those nine years I had a relationship of deep affection and respect for "merengue aficion," an affection and respect that I retain to this day, and that I will always cherish. I know that the true Real Madrid fans will continue to have me in their hearts, and I will have them in mine."

PAPER GOSSIP (by Danny Lewis)

- Atletico Madrid are in talks to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Rafa Mir, according to Football Insider. Wolves want £17m, with a permanent deal, a straight loan or a loan with the option for a permanent deal all being possibilities.

- You may have seen that Internazionale have signed PSV Eindhoven's Denzel Dumfries and Roma's Edin Dzeko. Well, Calciomercato have claimed that Dumfries' signing at right wing-back could spell the end of Valentino Lazaro's time with the club. The Scudetto winners are set to let him leave, with Benfica and Eintracht Frankfurt currently the sides most interested in signing the Austrian.

- Watford are in advanced talks with Torino regarding the signing of Lyanco, as has been reported by Sky Sports. It is suggested that the deal for the 24-year-old will be worth £7.5m, with the Brazilian having fallen out of favour in Turin. The defender has also been linked with Real Betis, but the Spanish side have been unable to strike a deal yet.

- Peter Bosz was not impressed with a number of individual performances during Lyon's 3-0 defeat against Angers. Marcelo scored an own goal in that game, and FootMercato are suggesting that the manager is so underwhelmed that the Brazilian could have his contract terminated.

- Napoli's Adam Ounas has had offers from the likes of Atlanta United, Olympiakos and Monza, but is holding out for a move to the Premier League, reports Calciomercato.
