Manchester City to save Fabregas from Chelsea nightmare; Rooney to China?

The transfer window might be shut, but don't think the wheeling and dealing won't continue! Check out all the latest deals here.

TOP STORY: Man City to save Cesc from Chelsea

Cesc Fabregas could be handed an escape route from his Chelsea nightmare by former boss Pep Guardiola, whose Manchester City are interested in making a £20 million move, according to the Sun.

Fabregas is not seen as a part of Antonio Conte's plans moving forward, with the Italian manager preferring a midfield combination of Nemanja Matic and N'Golo Kante.

City will top the former Gunner's current £160,000-per-week wages and offer a future move to sister club New York City FC in Major League Soccer to finish his career, reports suggest.

Rooney's links to China reinvigorated

Wayne Rooney could be offered a highly lucrative way out of his Manchester United misery by joining the Chinese football revolution. The England captain could be set to earn an astonishing £500,000 per week, the Mirror claims.

The Red Devils' skipper is struggling for form and playing time, with Jose Mourinho and Gareth Southgate dropping him for club and country respectively.

Now, former Three Lions chief Sven-Goren Eriksson wants to team up with Rooney once again by luring him to Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG. As recently as February, he was being linked with Shanghai's other club, Shanghai Shenhua.

The deal could be worth £80 million and would put an end to his time in the Premier League, where a dip in fitness appears to be hampering his ability to cut it at the top level on a consistent basis.

City to land Aubameyang as Aguero replacement

Borussia Dortmund attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could join Manchester City in a £58 million move as Guardiola looks to upgrade from Sergio Aguero, according to the Express.

Guardiola dropped the Argentina international striker for the Champions League match with Barcelona, instead preferring the mobility of Kevin De Bruyne.

AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are thought to be ready to offer Aguero a fresh start, with Guardiola eyeing the Gabonese striker as his ideal centre-forward replacement.

Arsenal, Man United to battle over Atletico defender

Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Gimenez is being lined up by Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester United, with the People suggesting he could be available for £40 million.

Manchester United have grown to like the 21-year-old since making regular trips to the Vicente Calderon to watch superstar striker Antoine Griezmann.

Atleti, meanwhile, could be ready to cash in, considering Diego Simeone has preferred Stefan Savic in recent months to partner Diego Godin.

Tap-ins

- Saido Berahino will end two years of speculation regarding his future with West Brom by signing a new deal that is believed to be worth around £50,000 per week, according to the Mirror.

The Baggies are thought to be ready to ease tension between the player and the club by including a £20m release clause.

- Everton will move for Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, with the People revealing that Ronald Koeman is keen on his compatriot.

A succession of knee problems has plagued the Dutch international's development, but after his return to full fitness, Koeman is keen to lure the 26-year-old to Goodison Park.
