TOP STORY: Inter line up double Croatian capture
Inter Milan are in the hunt for Croatian duo Ivan Rakitic and Luka Modric, with Calciomercato claiming the Nerazzurri are keen to secure both players for a new-look midfield next season.
Barcelona man Rakitic may soon find himself out of the picture at the Camp Nou, with Ajax starlet Frenkie de Jong joining the Catalans in a matter of months, while Brazilian midfielder Arthur is seen as another man for the long term.
Modric, meanwhile, who turns 34 in September, clashed with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez last summer after he blocked the World Cup finalist's move to Italy, and the former Tottenham midfielder could again be tempted by the lure of a fresh challenge.
Moves for the two rely heavily on Luciano Spalletti's Inter maintaining their Champions League status for next season, and with them currently sitting in relative comfort in third place in Serie A, majority shareholder Zhang Jindong looks set to put his hand in his pocket.

20.29 GMT: Goal is reporting that Ilkay Gundogan has reservations over his role in Manchester City's midfield beyond this summer, which has given him doubts over signing a new contract, and with just one year remaining on his deal and no progress on a new agreement, City may feel compelled to sell the Germany international this summer.
18.52 GMT: Philippe Coutinho has told teammates that he intends to leave Barcelona this summer, according to Catalan outlet Sport, who adds that the Brazilian would find no shortage of suitors in the Premier League.
17.15 GMT: There's much happening behind the scenes at Paris Saint-Germain, according to Tuttosport. With Kylian Mbappe's success as the club's centre-forward after moving from the wing following Edinson Cavani's injury, the Uruguayan is no longer needed at Parc des Princes, and is said to be up for sale with an asking price of €40m. But PSG would need some cover out wide to replace the now-centrally-operating Mbappe, and are said to be leading both Manchester clubs in the race for Juventus' €60m-rated Douglas Costa.
15.38 GMT: Dutch forward Bobby Adekanye, 20, is leaving Liverpool and could return to former club Barcelona -- although Lazio are favourites to sign him. "Unfortunately things didn't work out [at Liverpool]," he told Voetbalzone. "I expected to get a chance at Liverpool.
"It's not true [that a deal to Lazio is done]. They are one of the clubs interested in me, but it is not yet 100 percent decided. I have also heard from Barcelona. In the Netherlands, Willem II have also made contact."
14.47 GMT: PSG sporting director Antero Henrique has denied interest in Benfica midfielder Florentino, according to O Jogo.
The 19-year-old has been linked with some of Europe's biggest teams in recent weeks.
13.59 GMT: Corriere dello Sport report Maurizio Sarri, Gian Piero Gasperini, Antonio Conte, Marco Giampoalo and Leonardo Jardim are the contenders to be named Roma's new manager this summer.
Claudio Ranieri recently replaced Eusebio Di Francesco in the hotseat and, while he has an option to extend his contract beyond the end of the season, it is unlikely to happen.
13.02 GMT: Lucas Hernandez's arrival at Bayern Munich could allow David Alaba to join Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Bayern have signed Hernandez for €80m, but the World Cup-winner won't officially join until the summer.
And his arrival means some defenders will almost certainly need to leave -- with Alaba not short of suitors.
12.07 GMT: Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez has said that, after five years with Newcastle, it is "time for a change."
The 25-year-old, who joined Newcastle from Tenerife in 2014, is tied to the Premier League club until June 2021. He has scored six goals and set up two more in 30 league appearances for Newcastle.
"I believe in cycles and after five years [in Newcastle], I think it could be time for a change," Perez told El Chiringuito TV. "It would be great for my career to return to Spain, play in La Liga and compete with a big club.
"I have played many games and I've adapted to a very difficult league and I think I've got good numbers. But life here is worse than in Spain."
11.10 GMT: Manchester United have been following Hirving "Chucky" Lozano's progress since he was 16 years old, the president of his first club Pachuca has said.
As well as United, the PSV Eindhoven forward has been linked with a move to Barcelona and Napoli. Speaking after his side's 2-1 defeat to Tottenham in the Champions League in November, the Mexico international said a move to the Premier League would be "fabulous."
"What I can say and guarantee is that Hirving has had a Manchester United scout watching him since he was 16," Jesus Martinez told ESPN Deportes. "They have his whole record.
10.15 GMT: Could Real Madrid be about to make a triple swoop?
Various media outlets in Spain, notably AS, have written that club directors have met with Fali Ramadani -- the agent of Luka Jovic, Kalidou Koulibaly and Miralem Pjanic.
With rumours Raphael Varane is looking for an exit, a move for Koulibaly is not out of the question.
Meanwhile, manager Zinedine Zidane is known fan of Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic and Eintracht Frankfurt's Luka Jovic is one of the most in-demand forwards on the market.
09.20 GMT: Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera is seriously considering a lucrative three-year offer to join Paris Saint-Germain once his contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer, sources have told ESPN FC.
United have been trying to commit Herrera to a new deal since last year in order to avoid losing him for free at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old was keen to sign and stay at United having become a popular figure both in the dressing room and among the fans since completing a £29 million from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2014.
However, different sources have told ESPN FC that he could turn down the proposal from United and sign a three-year deal with PSG as their offer is too good to decline.
08.50 GMT: Antoine Griezmann is not thinking about his future despite reports he is set to join Barcelona this summer, the man who discovered the Atletico Madrid forward has told RMC.
Sources have told ESPN FC that Barcelona are prioritising other targets ahead of the 2018 World Cup winner, but Griezmann has been strongly linked with a switch to Catalonia, despite only extending his contract with Atletico with much fanfare last summer.
But Eric Olhats, who helped Griezmann sign for and then come through the ranks at Real Sociedad, says the France international only has his sights trained on helping his current club through to the end of the campaign.
"I have a very friendly relationship with him, quite frequent," Olhats said. "You can take this as cliche, but right now he's focussed on the end of the season.
"Right now, perhaps he has had calls left and right, but I spoke to him very recently, he's not thinking about that. He's not focussed on 'Should I go there?', 'What should I do?'. For the moment, he's at Atletico. I got the impression he's enjoying himself. He's not thinking, 'I'm going here or there.'"
08.00 GMT: Arsenal have been linked with a summer move for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti but, according to the Daily Mirror, the Gunners could hit one of several stumbling blocks if they pursue a deal.
France international Umtiti signed a new contract last year, which reportedly set his release clause at €500m.
The 25-year-old has had injury issues over the past few seasons -- he only started 24 games in La Liga in each of his two full seasons in SPain, and has only eight league starts to his name this term.
And, the Mirror points out, finding a top-class replacement for Aaron Ramsey in midfield should be a higher priority than adding another body at centre-back, where they already have several options.
PAPER TALK (by James Capps): Real begin talks ahead of summer spending spree
Real Madrid have been linked with moves for Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Luka Jovic, with Marca reporting news of a meeting between Madrid director Jose Angel Sanchez and the players' agent Fali Ramadani.
Serbian striker Jovic is also on the radar of La Liga rivals Barcelona, and Los Blancos appear to have stolen a march on their archrivals by opening talks with the 21-year-old's chief representative.
A move for Pjanic would be a pricey one, however, with the Bosnian under contract in Turin until the summer of 2023, but with the Italian giants still looking to balance the books after last year's mega-money signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, a sale of one of their most valuable assets could be on the cards.
Juve eye cut-price Alderweireld
Juventus are on the lookout for a new centre-half, and their attention has turned to Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld, despite the Belgian recently signing a contract extension in North London.
Calciomercato claims Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt was initially touted as the long-term solution for an aging backline, but a huge transfer fee looks to have put off the Old Lady board, with the Serie A champions looking set to pursue more-prudent options.
Alderweireld agreed a one-year extension to his White Hart Lane deal recently, but a release clause of just £25 million means that a move for the former Atletico Madrid man would be a relatively cheap deal. Reports claim Juventus executives are already in conversation with the 30-year-old's agents, and a formal offer appears imminent.
