Chelsea's Lucas Piazon set to return after loan to Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Lucas Piazon is set to return to Chelsea in the summer, the Eagles sporting director Bruno Hubner says.

Piazon joined the Bundesliga club on loan from Stamford Bridge ahead of the season. It was the Brazilian midfielder's third loan away from the Blues, who have over 20 players under contract at Chelsea but playing elsewhere.

The 21-year-old has started 11 games for the mid-table side and came off the bench, mostly during the final minutes, a further 11 times. He has scored twice, both winning goals in victories over Hamburg and Schalke, and set up two more.

However, he has failed to become a regular starter under Eintracht Frankfurt coach Thomas Schaaf, and it appears Die Adler are not interested in negotiating a new loan deal or permanent transfer with Chelsea.

"As things stand, Piazon will return to Chelsea in the summer," Frankfurt's sporting director Bruno Hubner told kicker on Thursday.

Shortly after arriving in Bundesliga, Piazon had high hopes of not only gaining vital experience at Frankfurt, but also of making his third move away from Chelsea a permanent one.

"If everything fits, I can certainly imagine staying in Frankfurt," he said in September, calling the Bundesliga the most difficult leagues and thus fun to play in.

Before joining Eintracht, Piazon had a stint at Malaga, and one at Vitesse in the Netherlands.
